As it is, we generally think of Wittgenstein as an incredible philosopher of language and logic, beginning with his first work, Tractatus, and changing the way we think about language with the publication of Philosophical Investigations, bringing with it the invention of the language game theory of language. In these two works, Wittgenstein does not talk much about ethics directly, except to say that we should not be talking about it; however, if we piece together comments from his entire body of work (much of which was published posthumously) with the details of his life, we can start to get a picture of the ethic by which Wittgenstein lived his life. In this paper, I will argue that Wittgenstein’s ethic was one centered around living life with as much authenticity and integrity to the self as possible.
I often used to get 30 flights to Beauvais to go and see my sister when she was in Paris! Anyway, once we got to the airport we got the RER train straight into the city centre, just follow signs for the RER once you are inside the airport. It only takes 25 minutes and you can get it from inside the airport. It literally is the most simple thing and we were in the city centre of Paris for just after 10am.
There is lack of intelligence and or wisdom in his mindset. Thus generating a self fulfilling prophecy of bad luck and sorrow; a vicious cycle of anger, ill will, resentment, and hatred of everything within his miserable experience in life. His existence is doomed from the onset he is born and he perishes likewise.
It was simple and heartfelt. All in all I thought it was a pretty good show, they kept it fast paced enough and Hugh’s work was entertaining. But that’s too bad. “I’ve always been unique and different in the small confines of Indiana,” Overmyer said, “but it was good to know I was unique in the nation’s eyes, too.” She counts getting to know her roommate, Carly Smithson, and her performances on “the big stage” to be among her favorite “Idol” experiences. And her least favorite? “All of the group performances we had to do,” she said laughing. If Overmyer would have made it into next week she said she would have sung “On the Dark Side,” a John Cafferty the Beaver Brown Band cut from the movie “Eddie and the Cruisers.” Although “Idol” fans will miss out on that performance, there’s a good chance Overmyer will get to sing that song and many others on another stage very soon she’s just not sure when.
Music is just one way that friends are brought together and it reminds me of the Aristotelian concepts of friendship. Perhaps playing music with someone starts out as one of the first two types of friendship that Aristotle describes friendships based on utility and pleasure. If someone wishes to start a chamber orchestra, they will do so by asking musicians who can provide the services they want: skill and the correct instrument.
